What is Chavutti Thirumal?
Chavutti Thirumal Indian Rope Massage, having a history spanning thousands of years, literally is translated as 'massage by foot pressure.' The form originated in South India alongside the Kalari martial arts, Kathakali dancers and amongst practitioners of yoga.
This massage technique was developed for maintaining suppleness in the body and for treating pain and swelling caused by combat. It is equally suitable however as a treatment for those not involved in regular or strenuous exercise, who wish to encourage their own fitness and wellbeing.

What Can I Expect?
If you are coming to see me for the first time I will carry out an initial consultation to assess your overall state of health and to address your specific needs.
Chavutti Thirumal is carried out to a sequence in three main stages. The first stage covers the entire back of the body, moving on to the sides and then the front of the body. I complete the treatment with a head, shoulder and face massage as well as stimulating main reflexology points of the feet.
The treatment is usually carried out whilst you are mostly naked and wearing a towel or briefs to create a loin cloth. I use warm oil, and the room is kept warm with heaters to prevent the body getting cold.
It is recommended that you arrive on an empty stomach and to drink plenty of water following a treatment to further aid deep detoxification of body tissues.
